SOAP 101

10/9/2026

If you've ever picked up a bar of handmade goat milk soap and wondered, What's so special about goat milk?—you're not alone.

At BAR, goat milk is one of the things that makes our soap special. But there's more to it than simply putting milk in a bar of soap and calling it fancy.

So, what exactly is goat milk soap?

Goat milk soap is made by incorporating goat milk into the soap-making process. At BAR, we use goat milk as part of our cold-process soap recipes, along with carefully selected oils, fragrance and color.

The result is a rich, creamy bar with a wonderfully luxurious feel.

And yes, it really is made with goat milk.

Why goat milk?

Goat milk naturally contains fats, proteins, vitamins and minerals, and it's been a longtime favorite ingredient in skin-care products.

But what I love most about goat milk soap is the feel.

A well-made goat milk bar produces a creamy, satisfying lather that makes an ordinary shower feel just a little more indulgent.

And that's really what BAR is all about.

Handmade soap is different

Unlike mass-produced commercial soap, handmade cold-process soap is made in small batches.

That means every batch gets individual attention—and sometimes a little attitude.

Colors may swirl differently. Fragrance can behave unexpectedly. A top that was supposed to be smooth might decide it wants to be sculptural.

That's part of the charm.

You'll occasionally see little differences from one bar to another because each one is genuinely handmade.

And then there's the fun part...

At BAR, I don't make ordinary soap.

I make goat milk soap inspired by cocktails, desserts, beaches and all the delicious things I love.

There's Amaretto Cherry Sour.

Peach Bellini.

Banana Fana.

Moon Over Maho.

Fiji Sunrise.

Iced Oatmeal Cookie.

And plenty more.

The idea started with a simple thought: What if soap could smell so good you wouldn't mind having your mouth washed out with it?

Obviously, you should not actually eat the soap.

But you can absolutely enjoy the delicious-looking colors, fragrances and designs from the safety of your shower.

So, is goat milk soap right for you?

If you enjoy handmade products, creamy lather, interesting fragrances and products with a story behind them, you might just be a BAR person.

And if you find yourself sniffing a bar and thinking, That smells good enough to eat...

Well.

Welcome to BAR. You've found your people.
